Conservation area
About this dataset
| Summary | Conservation areas are defined by the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 as areas of special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance. They are a consideration for a number of different planning decisions related to conserving and enhancing the historic environment. The dataset contains some authoritative data provided by local planning authorities, as well as data collected from from Historic England and other sources found on data.gov.uk. It should be treated as a work in progress, and is currently incomplete. It also contains a number of duplicate conservation areas we are working to reconcile. |
